Bright Enough

The road was rocky

The wheels were big

Rolling fast

Timber spokes

Lined with steel

Every Stone

Every hole in the road

Reverberated

Shaking this foundation

Her knuckles were white

From holding on

For dear life

Some people’s paths are paved

Some people have a smooth ride

Some people are equipped with more to hold on to

And sometimes

For some people

it’s all moving too fast

You can’t catch up

Because this time

When you lost your grip

You feel hard

So you fell hard

You fell fast

And this time

It was the last

And it’s not that

you were not bright enough

To light up her life

It’s just that

She was light

No armour to hold her

And the blows

They hit it harder

And she floated off the back like a feather in the wind

And now she’s gone

Pain is replaced

With grief

Un-expressed love

May she know peace

May we grant her

Grace
